Usually February is when I spend time complaining about Winter. How much I hate it, Spring will never come…so on and so forth. However, rather than my usual rants and raves I have discovered something this morning that I just have to share.

In my morning mail I received my January addition of ISE magazine. (formerly known as OSP magazine.) I always flip through it for industry information…This morning there it was! I could not believe what I was reading! An ad I just really need to comment on.

With big bold white letters it reads, “Bigger does not always mean Better
Behind this in real pretty blue and purple ink is a silhouetted picture of the Titanic sinking!

Not exactly the most upbeat sales pitch I must say. But when you realize that the ad is from my largest competitor that starts with a “D” it becomes unbelievable!

I use “bigger does not always mean better” when discussing working with Creek Plastics vs “The D word” a lot! We are entering into 2016 which by all indications will be a very busy year for our industry, Being a big fish in our smaller pond has to be more attractive than working with a huge company that thinks using the Titanic in their ads is a good idea!

We are gearing up for a busy 2016 by adding capacity at our location. They are doing it by building plants in India! We are trying to grow our business in the East as well, but we’ll stay West of the Atlantic ocean!

Years ago I had a customer who was a disgruntled employee for a huge company that used to tell me, “The only difference between this place and the Titanic is they had a band!”

The ad reminded me of that unhappy worker from years past!

So finally Creek Plastics and “The D word” see eye to eye on something….

“BIGGER DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN BETTER!”
